Talaria frame parts, guards & fixings

The frame is what everything else hangs off, and it is the one area where a cheap part is a genuinely bad idea. Vibration loosens fixings and instant torque works bearings hard — both are maintenance items on these machines, not fit-and-forget.

What to know about Talaria frame parts

  • Check torque regularly. Vibration loosens fasteners far faster than on a gas bike, because there is no engine mass damping it. Going round the frame bolts with a torque wrench after the first few rides, and periodically after that, prevents most of the problems on this page.
  • Bearings are a service item. Headset, swingarm and linkage bearings all wear. Play at the headstock or a swingarm that moves side to side means bearings rather than something worse — replace them as a set rather than one at a time.
  • Guards earn their money. Frame and motor guards cost a fraction of the parts they protect. On rocky terrain they are the cheapest insurance available.
  • Crash damage is not always obvious. Look for rippled paint behind the headstock and around the swingarm pivot. Those are the two areas where a hard impact shows first, and both are walk-away territory on a used bike.

Talaria frame parts questions

Are Talaria frames interchangeable between models?
Generally no. Frames, mounts and pivot hardware differ across the range and between model years, and battery box dimensions differ too. Check fitment against your exact model and year before ordering anything structural.
How do I know if my frame bearings are worn?
Put the bike on a stand. Rock the forks fore and aft with the front brake on — knocking at the headstock means headset bearings. Grab the rear wheel and push side to side — movement at the swingarm means pivot bearings. Both are straightforward jobs.
Can a cracked frame be repaired?
We would not ride one. Aluminium frames can be welded, but heat changes the temper around the repair and these machines put real load through the swingarm pivot area. On a used bike, a welded frame is a reason to walk away rather than negotiate.
