Phoenix, Arizona
Electric dirt bikes in Phoenix
Phoenix riding is desert riding: hot, open, abrasive and hard on air filters and tyres. The two closest areas are both inside 40 minutes, which makes an electric machine genuinely practical here — no fuel to haul, and quiet enough not to draw attention on the ride in.
Where to ride near Phoenix
This shapes which machine is right more than any spec does. Riding any of them requires a Arizona OHV Decal.
-
Table Mesa Recreation Area
North of Phoenix — roughly 35 minutes out
Open desert washes and hills, and the default after-work ride for the north valley. An Arizona OHV Decal is required.
-
San Tan Mountains
South-east of the metro — roughly 40 minutes
Desert trail on the Gilbert/Queen Creek side. Rockier than Table Mesa and a better test of suspension. Arizona OHV Decal required.
Not on this list: Phoenix streets, sidewalks, bike paths and park trails. That is the riding that has driven tightening regulation across California.

Arizona off-highway law
Arizona requires an OHV Decal, purchased annually for $25 from Arizona State Parks, for any off-highway vehicle under 1,800 lb designed for unimproved terrain. Since 1 January 2025 one registered owner must first complete the free "OHV Decal: Safe & Ethical Riding in Arizona" course.
Public-road use is a separate matter entirely: it requires Arizona MVD registration, plates and a Class M licence. A stock machine does not qualify.
