Los Angeles, Southern California
Electric dirt bikes in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has more legal riding within two hours of it than almost anywhere else in the state, and most of it is fast, open and dusty. That should shape which machine you buy far more than a spec sheet does — Hungry Valley alone will show up a bike with short suspension travel inside a morning.
Where to ride near Los Angeles
This shapes which machine is right more than any spec does. All of these require California DMV off-highway (green sticker) registration and a compliant helmet.
-
Hungry Valley SVRA
Gorman, at the Tejon Pass — roughly an hour north
19,000 acres and over 130 miles of trail. Fast, open and genuinely big; the closest thing to a proper day out from LA, and the reason suspension travel matters here.
-
San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area
Azusa — 11 miles north, the closest option to the city
A compact 160-acre sandy river bottom. Short on distance, useful on a weekday evening, and forgiving enough for a first outing.
-
Cactus Flats OHV Area
Highway 18, between Big Bear and Lucerne Valley
High-desert riding at altitude. Cooler in summer than the valley floor, and rockier than Hungry Valley.
Not on this list: Los Angeles streets, sidewalks, bike paths and park trails. That is the riding that has driven tightening regulation across California.
What we would ride near Los Angeles
Sur-Ron Ultra Bee — 9.4 in of suspension travel and 62 miles of range suit Hungry Valley better than a lighter, shorter-travel machine. Open desert punishes a short-travel bike quickly.

Frequently asked questions
- Where can I buy a Sur-Ron or Talaria in Los Angeles?
- From us. We are an authorized dealer based in San Jose, about 350 miles from our San Jose floor, and we ship to Los Angeles by freight. Typically 2–3 business days by freight, often quicker on the I-5 corridor. Every bike is uncrated, checked and set up before it leaves rather than drop-shipped sealed.
- Where can I ride an electric dirt bike near Los Angeles?
- Hungry Valley SVRA, San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area, Cactus Flats OHV Area. All require California DMV off-highway (green sticker) registration and a compliant helmet. Hungry Valley SVRA is the closest at gorman, at the tejon pass — roughly an hour north.
- Can I ride one on the street in Los Angeles?
- No. These are electric off-road motorcycles and are not street legal in stock form. Roads, sidewalks and bike paths are not legal riding surfaces for them anywhere in California, and SB 586 did not change that — it created a classification, not road access.
- Which bike suits riding near Los Angeles?
- Sur-Ron Ultra Bee. 9.4 in of suspension travel and 62 miles of range suit Hungry Valley better than a lighter, shorter-travel machine. Open desert punishes a short-travel bike quickly. That said, seat height and your own experience matter more than terrain — tell us your height and weight and we will give you a straight answer.
- How long does delivery to Los Angeles take?
- Typically 2–3 business days by freight, often quicker on the I-5 corridor. Bikes ship crated on a pallet as UN3481 Class 9 freight, and we quote the cost against your address before you pay rather than burying it at checkout.
